Kirk Muyres and Matt Dunstone used to be teammates, then became provincial rivals and now are teammates once again, Kirk Muyres and Matt Dunstone will participate in a team soon for the upcoming season.
Dunstone made annoucement on Thursday that Muyres will take part in the Regina-based club second times and said his goodbye to Catlin Schneider earlier this week. Third Braeden Moskowy and the lead Dustin Kidby will be teammates once again and maybe sometimes compete with each other for rehearsals.
“Kirk’s experience and his loud achievement at the third and skip positions impressively make him become one of the most well-rounded players in curling field.” Dunstone shared his viewpoint on a social media post. “We’re all excited to see how he becomes one of the best seconds in the world. I am most looking forward to earn a Brier gold for Saskatchewan and also our collective dream of becoming Team Canada at the Olympics with the participation of Kirks!”
Muyres and Dunstone used to be the teammates of Steve Laycock’s team and won the 2018 SaskTel Tankard to represent Saskatchewan at the Brier. After parting away from each other to develope themselves in different new squads, Muyres and Dunstone became competitors as the participation of two provincial championship finals. While Muyres was the champion a year ago, Dunstone became on top this season and earned a bronze at the Brier.
Both Muyres and Dunstone have earned certain important success on the Pinty’s Grand Slam of Curling circuit with Team Muyres while taking part in the Tour Challenge Tier 2 titles in 2018 and Team Dunstone claiming the Masters this season.
“I can’t wait to start this next chapter of my career with Matt, Braeden and Dustin,” Muyres said excitedly in the post. “This team has claimed that they can play and win in these important moments and their players can compete with the highest consistency against the top 1 teams in the world. The goal has always been to win the Brier and Olympic gold for Saskatchewan and I believe this group has the some secrective formula to make it come true. I am excited to bring my experience as a third and skip to help this team gain most success as possible as I can.”
