World Curling Academy holds its official first online curling course

Due to the sophisticated situation of the pandemic, many fields of the world are trying to apply new resources, especially high technology with the viewing to continuing different essential activities.

It is definitely that curling is of no exception, the World Curling Academy has recently announced to celebrate its first online curling course. The registration is now available for people to register. The Ice Technician (Level 1) course is a virtual course being built not a long time ago, which teaches curling beginners the basic knowledge of handling ice curling.

The course has been strategically organized and built to help beginners gain a deeper understanding of curling equipment as well as the maintenance of this sport such as basics of refrigeration, air systems, dehumidification, water quality, pebbling and scraping techniques as well as some essential knowledge of curling stones.

This course is one of several parts required for curling newbies to become a certified World Curling Academy Level 1 Ice Technician. It is required for players to pass their in-person assessment being built by a World Curling Academy Educator. After finishing this assessment, they are qualified enough to complete the certification.

Scott Arnold, who is the World Curling Federation’s Head of Development, said: “This has been over a year in development and I cannot tell you how thrilled I am to see the first of our certification courses published on the World Curling Academy,”.

He said that according to the World Curling Federation’s Curling Ice Explained manual, anyone who is interested in playing ice curling should kick off their journeys by taking part in the Ice Technician Level 1 online course.

“Over the coming months, both Umpire Level 1 and Technical Coach Level 1 will be held online on the Academy site, which are available to anyone having internet access and the ability to learn about those disciplines. Being opened widely to the whole global has been such a development challenge for the Federation and the Academy allows us to overcome it.”

Scott said: “I would be remiss if I did not thank our education partner, World Academy of Sport, the members of our Curriculum Advisory Groups, and my fellow staff for all of their hard work in launching the Academy.”
